With the Micro-Mini-Gathering coming up in Orlando this seems like as good a time as any to get some feedback on something.
When attending socials with a group of people at a club or a bar and at the end of the night the bill comes what is the protocol for the non-drinkers in the group?
If you are on a budget or if you are just totally cheap I would imagine you would avoid this by casually working your way to the bathroom or the door. What if you want to share in the tab though because you enjoyed the company of the group and want to offer something to the tab?
I imagine with even a small group like will attend Orlando there will still be somewhat of a substantial tab at nights end. While not contributing anything to the tab might be acceptable it doesnt seem entirely right either.
After a round of golf if I have won that day I might pick up the entire tab for my group even though they had beers or a mixed drink and all I had was a diet coke. I might go as far as buying lunch for my 4-some. If I were on a date obviously I would pay for everything that evening cause a lady never pays even if its obvious there wont be anything to come later or in the future for that matter. Those differ from a gathering though.
So what are the opinions here? Have there been other non-drinkers at previous socials? Whats been the norm? If the tab is $300 is $50 towards the tab adequate? What say yall?
