You're right. Forum shtick is so awesome. Plus I have heard he gives "shout outs" which involve saying people's names out loud.

I shouldn't be so hard on him.

If you miss the "shout out" it's OK, because he will remind you several times on a message board that he "shouted out" to you and request that you go listen to him saying your name out loud on his website. It's apparently quite the honor, and a win/win for everyone involved in the shout out process.
