I love the concept of mixing things up and flying in the face of convention but this particular thing? Not feeling it.

Not even saying the chick doesn't have the chops. I have no idea about that. I don't see how she has paid any dues to earn her position but whatever - maybe she is a natural.

But coaching is a 2-way street and for her to be effective, it is just as important to have enlightenment and open-mindedness from her coachees. That's the part I doubt. I assume she is starting at the bottom rung and I have a hard time imagining her climbing any kind of ladder.

Moving on to coach chicks somewhere some day? Sure, why not?

IMO - we will have to wait and see how this plays out - personally I see nothing wrong with a female coaching males - she isn't playing with them - just guiding them - and if you know your game, then you know your game.

In 5 years when there are multiple female head coaches the Spurs will be seen as pioneers. Lisa Boyer was an assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2001-02, but didn't travel to away games and wasn't paid by the Cavaliers. She was paid by the Cleveland Rockers of the WNBA so it's not the same. True class is pushing the envelope when you're on top. Popovich.

:thumbsup: I had never heard of this gal before seeing a piece on GMA this morning. Surprised to learn she's only 5'6...she looked taller until she stood next to some of the players.. .. Good for her. I don't care for WNBA so know nothing about her, but apparently was named one of the 25 best WNBA players of all time (not sure how long it's been around.)
