I bought it and got about halfway through and stopped reading. I thought it was going to be a soccer version of Moneyball but the questions asked/answered were mostly not particularly interesting and the authors seemed to have a poor grasp of efficient regression techniques and interpreting the data. But since you've got it, you might as well give it a go - the first three chapters are representative of the rest of the book so you can at least try to get at least that far.

Only book you need to read about soccer betting is the one the refs are using to place bets. Greek referees were arrested today for having bank deposits of 300,000 Euros from winnings from betting accounts. So if you know what games they are betting no need to worry about regression techniques and all the other crapola to bet soccer. My greatest wins in soccer are from games I have info they are fixed. Off course the CR bookies are so slow to react I catch them sleeping all the time.
