So what is new GLPPOTD strategy?

I think the thread should be started the night before and some picks offered for consumption by 12AM on the day of for discussion.

Too many times picks aren't posted until late morning or early afternoon, and people already have the other side so they don't vote.
 
My .02

The minimum # of picks should be four.

This allows for more discussion and input (more games = more input).


If a guy is an MMA guy who knows very little about bases and hoops he should not be pressured into making bases picks. Makes no sense.


At the end of the day, we need more picks by the original poster (minimum of 4) and we need more participation by the posters who have a legit stance on a game. People are betting real $$$ on these games so we all owe it to each other to be a part of it if we all want it to be successful.
 
Maybe anyone and everyone who wants to put 4-5 whatever amount of plays out like Daft said! All you sports guys where ever you are, put up some play suggestions, please! Also a brief explanation why only to help a voter that might not be familiar with why? If we get everyone involved, say 15-20 posters X 4-5 plays. With this says 80 or so plays total than their has to be some common picks? Hopefully most people are like myself in not caring if my play is picked, just so we get a winner!

GLPOTD can't get any more sports related. Everyone be there with a vote please. We need all the help we can get. The politicians in DC show up to vote more than us. Let's try to get like a 30-35 votes on games instead of the usual 4-5 count vote!

Here's a chance Monday to see who wants to make this place grow by some kind of show of unity support. People here not that big on sports, no problem if you don't give us some plays, just vote please if you can.

What is there, 12 bases and 10-11 NBA games Monday and don't know what else? Maybe everyone post their plays say by 12-2 PM EST? Don't know how we can set up a vote poll to decide the outcome. Possibly too complex in nature but just want to see who truly calls this place home and the turnout we get.

I apologize Arch to you if I offended you, just thought you didn't know the old format and then realize you meant the new one? Fair Warning, appreciate you giving us something since you seem interested. Always watched GG the Dancing Machine as a kid!

MonkeyFocker buddy, just saw your reply post to funny Mudcat in other thread, not trying to start anything, but being what I consider one of the top gamblers here, I expect to see some plays from you. Daft, Jello..... we especially need the serious guys to show up! Archie buddy, you too, I know you know your stuff.

Bread, could you possibly start a GLPOTD thread with ANYONE and EVERYONE on it? Thanks!
 
If you really want my opinion on the GLPPOTD, I'd say that the only way you have a chance of making it successful long term is if the pick is made prior to 12:00PM EST. Currently, the picks are made near the close and present very limited opportunities for value.

Yes, see your point and makes alot of sense. Matty more or less said the same thing in the other thread and seeing how much the lines change overnight (especially in baseball) it can be a deal breaking. Probably just to hard and difficult to make work properly especially with people online and offline here at different times! Thanks for the input! :thumbup:
 
Lets try what RS suggested. You have your day and everybody submit plays to you. For example its illy's day, everybody can suggest plays, Daft comes and gives 3 picks and argument why they are good plays. I come and give him 2 plays. Mr. Monkey suggest one. Then illy decides which is the best suggested play and that becomes the potd. We start the thread the night before so we can take advantage of overnights. The picker decides when to make it official with bid red font, could be overnight to take advantage of a nice price.

Go with this?

As an idea it sounds solid. Biggest setback though would be the continual reliance upon multiple users to conjuer picks over the longer term....:dunno:

I'm pleased you liked my suggestion. I certainly commit to throwing out a few plays during the week in support of the new format.
 
We also need everyone to throw out the old "I'm not comfortable picking or voting with ppl playing real money on these plays."

We all know the game. No need for worries. Participation is a must.
