The obvious answer is that Makarov didn't play long enough in the NHL and that the Russian part of his career is overlooked.

Cam Neely had three 50-goal seasons. Only 90 players in history have scored 50 goals in a season.

Sundin is a point-per-game guy and he has 500+ career goals (22nd of all-time, ahead of a whole lot of Hall of Famers).

Makarov should be in the HHOF. It's the HHOF fame not the NHLHOF.

I was actually rooting for the US, even ditched school to watch the game. Any team that comes out to Rock n Roll by Gary Glitter has to be cool I thought. And it was an excellent team and great moment for those guys.

It was only years later that I see how disgustingly the propaganda machine has been spinning it and probably will be till the end of time, that makes me regret it.
