No (to separation) leads yes by a 47.5% to 42.5% margin - with 10% undecided.
That surprises me a bit. The Scots seem to hate David Cameron's ruling Conservative Party government as there is only one Tory representative in Westminster from all of Scotland. That's 1 out of 59.
So in that way, they do seem to be voting that the English are wankers. But in the most important vote, the NO's lead.
Apparently David Cameron's leadership is in trouble over all this. I don't understand that. The whole thing seems like a win-win for him to me. If they stay then life goes merrily on. The freaked-out-by-change constituency - which is never small - likes that.
If they actually voted to separate and you remove the Scotland component from his parliament - i.e. remove 59 MP's, 58 of whom are opposition - his party's position would be considerably strengthened. That would be the math as I understand it. Percentages and whatnot.
But no surprise, people are playing politics with it and whatever happens, people will try to cast him in a bad light.
As one source said, "He's in a right hole."
