A referendum on whether Scotland should be an independent country will take place on Thursday, 18 September 2014.

Many arguments on both sides, some sensible some stupid as fok.

I know how this guy votes:

Well actually, on deeper consideration, I'm not so sure of the bottom line:

Mark Renton: : It's SHITE being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of the fucking Earth! The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some hate the English. I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are COLONIZED by wankers. Can't even find a decent culture to be colonized BY. We're ruled by effete assholes. It's a SHITE state of affairs to be in, Tommy, and ALL the fresh air in the world won't make any fucking difference.

People are factoring in the announcement that Kate Middleton is pregnant again into the discussion of how Scots should vote re independence.

I place this argument squarely on the quote-unquote "stupid as fok" side of the ledger.

I agree with Nina.

The real question is how does someone here get a smiley for themselves as flattering as Pecos Bill's? On a wrecking ball naked pissing and shitting all over the place.

Whatever he did, I salute him.

Apparently Scotland is a rich country and it could easily make it work financially.

What are the public polls showing? Haven't been following that at all. Obviously, the PQ is living vicariously through the Scots right now.

No (to separation) leads yes by a 47.5% to 42.5% margin - with 10% undecided.

That surprises me a bit. The Scots seem to hate David Cameron's ruling Conservative Party government as there is only one Tory representative in Westminster from all of Scotland. That's 1 out of 59.

So in that way, they do seem to be voting that the English are wankers. But in the most important vote, the NO's lead.

Apparently David Cameron's leadership is in trouble over all this. I don't understand that. The whole thing seems like a win-win for him to me. If they stay then life goes merrily on. The freaked-out-by-change constituency - which is never small - likes that.

If they actually voted to separate and you remove the Scotland component from his parliament - i.e. remove 59 MP's, 58 of whom are opposition - his party's position would be considerably strengthened. That would be the math as I understand it. Percentages and whatnot.

But no surprise, people are playing politics with it and whatever happens, people will try to cast him in a bad light.

As one source said, "He's in a right hole."

Getting closer. There are many polls out there and some have it closer than the one I referenced earlier. At least one has YES in front. Nevertheless, my personal interpretation of the numbers I am seeing ---> it will be NO.

The Queen has weighed in (if you can call saying people should think very carefully "weighing in") There are implications regarding NATO and the EU. David Cameron is back in Scotland today. Everybody hates him but howdy.

Man o man.
