I used to play poker online quite frequently, from 2006 -2008.

Now I'm tired of the game, I play in the weekly EOG freeroll sponsored by Bookmaker, $1k and only 40 players.

I can handle that once a week, still sometimes its frustrating.

Today I log in to ipoker and buy in to a $1500 tourney.

Down to 14 players and I'm mid stack. Pocket 6's, other player min raises preflop and 3 calls including myself.

Flop comes rainbow 6,7, 10. continuation bet by preflop raiser, 1 caller and I raise to double the pot. Everyone but one guy folds, he raises me all in and I think he may have 8-9 but decide he doesn't and call.

What did he have?

K -3 off suit.
When the turn card was a 5 I knew immediately that a 4 was coming on the river. It did.

I got eliminated. Had I won that pot I was a lock to make the final table.

Those kind of beats put me on tilt and turn me off poker.

I just uninstalled that poker client from my computer. Won't be playing for real money again for a while.

I feel your pain Plommer. I have not been playing poker much at all lately either although I have bankrolls on Full Tilt and Pokerstars.

That kinda shit always happens to me too; I used to love playing and would do so for hours and hours and hours at a time.

I can never tell if people complaining about poker are insinuating the game is actually rigged or if they are just having selective memory and like complaining...

I've read alot of posts at 2+2 regarding how players that risk all their chips on remote draws are rewarded on the ipoker network.

Seen guys compile stats from millions of hands played to support the claim.

I'm not saying its rigged, because I can't prove it but I can't know for sure 1 way or the other.

I'm just frustrated that such a donk move by my opponent was lucky enough to end my tournament life and I missed a decent prize.

Statistically how likely is it that King high after the flop vs a set would win?

I'm a small stakes poker player online because I can't trust online poker. Cheating is prevalent and bot use is well documented on ipoker.

I would never play for large stakes or make a deposit over $50 to play online.

I don't think that online poker is rigged. I believe the overall randomness contributes to the 'bad beats'. If you take the time to catalogue enough of your hands, you will see that the numbers eventually don't lie in terms of your hands holding or not holding. I have had databases of multiple thousands of hands and if you get it in good you usually win the % of the time you are supposed to.

im much more comfortable playing 4-6 tables...i know the bad beats are coming, but something about having more tables open will keep me a little more calm when some bullshit like that happens.... guess its because i dont have a lot of time to bitch about the beat :dunno:

fwiw, from the hours ive played, no other poker program/book gave more love to underdog hands than Bodog... seemed like they were bailing motherfuckers out ever other hand.

I forgot how WW did it but ** had a poker room on the site, where posters could go in and play against each other for fun or money. It was actually kind of fun...just something to think about if there are many that like to play here. Not sure what/if it cost to have that installed or whatever.

Same experience. More tables = less stress.

Still, poker is by far the most stress-inducing gambling that I've done in my career. I constantly feel like I'm having a mild heart attack when playing poker, and I have hardly any stress when doing other forms of gambling. Unless I chose to sweat out baseball scores, but that was self-inflicted and unnecessary.

i talked to mf a lot back in the day and im still amazed that guys like him can go from putting in the hours on the computer to putting in the hours at a single live table... i play Live once, maybe twice a month and am bored out of my fucking mind the whole time.
