Here's what you missed this past Saturday living so far away from amazing Newberry and AWESOME Wal.

When you get to the ramp jumping, the BIG truck doing those jumps is my 1/5 scale Baja. It's 37" long and weighs in at 42 pounds and it's jumping nearly 40'. Well it was till it made that one jump where it landed on it's tail and flipped. After that jump it cost me money.

Overall we lost money on the celebration but that was in part to me buying too much and in part to being accustom to dealing with golfers. We had 200 plus people come through Saturday and if I had a golf tournament with that many people we would have made $2500-$4000. RC'rs are golfers and we ended up losing roughly $1200.

On the good note though it was an AMAZING show of support and people want to come back. They were excited with where we are today and even more stoked about the plans for the future.

This just might work out in the end. Course I'll have to learn to get more help both in labor, donations and be better prepared to organize fund raisers. I'm trying to get together a committee to help with things like that.

Anyone wanna move to Newberry and be a chair person?

Excellent work here Wally! Looks like most of the controllers knew how to handle their cars in the race! The first image of that RC and it looked like a real sized auto! The guy knows how to land his plane! Can you get him to fly it upside down next time like in the movie Flight if possible?

:pope:
that car at 2:31 :guitar:

my brother got into building an RC plane no long ago.
which reminds me , I never heard anything else about it after he took it out for the 1st flight

couple miles from me is where the aircraft RCers have there shin digs couple times a month.

The earlier drivers have done this before, these however are first time drivers. I had to play the political card and get city officials involved. This race is between 2 commissioners, the city manager and the utility director.

I don't usually respond to you but I'm feeling generous today.

If you had 200 golfers for a golf tournament vs 200 RC'rs for a festival you make a killing off the golf tournament even after paying out all the expenses.

That ramp is cool. Guessing the cars have controllable spoilers/flaps to control the landing?

To bring the nose down you tap the brake. To nose up you give it throttle. With enough experience you can flip them, rock them or just about anything. With not enough experience you buy parts the next day. I fall into the latter category.

In my defense the 1/5 scales are so heavy that there is little control. There is some but not a lot. I still gave it throttle when I should have given it brake though on that final jump.
