The Ontario government holds the position that sanctioning MMA in the province is not a priority, and the fact that a pro-MMA rally yesterday could only attract ~150 people does not seem likely to rattle their cages.
Seems weird to me. I don't think anyone would deny that MMA events would generate 10's of millions of dollars.
I'm not clear on the reasons. I have seen it suggested that the government's position is based on family values ??? Or maybe some interpretation of the Criminal Code (which other provinces obviously don't agree with). Dunno.
UFC president Dana White has a "major announcement" planned for Toronto on Tuesday. I wonder what that could be.
