Pretentious Glass-Half-Empty Types Piss Me Off

I'm not talking about all glass-half-empty types. As much as I try to be a glass-half-full kind of guy, I naturally trend to half-empty.

What pisses me off are these douchebags that act like their thinking negatively is somehow superior to others thinking positively.

Let's say, as an example, it's Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. We can safely assume both teams are evenly matched as they have gotten this far. We all have no fucking clue how Game 7 will go.

Glass Half Empty Fan: They won game 6. They have all the momentum, we are done for.

Glass Half Full Fan: We have come this far and have won high pressure games all season long, I think we can pull it off!

GHE Fan: You know, if you want to bury your head in the ground and ignore the facts like a dumbass, you go right ahead, we all know we are going to lose.

I was agreeing with your premise and thinking of more general life stuff - like the guy who takes the philosophical stance that the only conclusion an intelligent person can reach is pessimism and they feel they should be congratulated for their negativity.

But then your example gave me a completely different thing I disdain: guys who just know stuff based on inadequate proof. But they just know. They are wrong as often as they are right but they never learn anything and keep returning by default to the pretentious posture.

I suppose it all overlaps. Fuck all those douches!
