That wacky old MrMonkey has been mentioning this lately, and I am interested.

I guess it would be sort of like the old best bet thread, but different.

Since at this time, we have a small community here of mostly older friends, how about a thread where you can come in, post a couple of plays that you like. Any play that receives the most votes, anyone who is interested actually makes a play on it.

Even if it's a few bucks...at least when these hit, the board can be in a better mood that day.

And when it loses, the people who picked the loser receive a ton of forum hate for 24 hours. :old:

I like this idea and even on days I'm not making plays, would be sure to throw a few bones on the GLPOTD.

Anyone interested?

It would come down to people calling each other sharps and squares. Some posters use modeling for plays some use capping. There will be always different opinions on the game outcomes. I can't see how voting will help people decide on a play.

Pavy...you are right...but this isn't any system for people to get rich off of. Just something fun...something to bond the board.

Obviously if someone absolutely HATES the GLPOTD, they aren't bound to it.

Dunder good idea...also might be several days where no particular play gets more than one vote.

How about a system where all guys interested in doing this are rotated? When it is his day, that will be the GLPOTD. We could keep records, see who is most profitable for the group, etc.

Pavy, stop being a killjoy! If you keep acting like this, than you are indeed gay or from your avatar your just a guy who does it to make some money!:peace:

Nothing wrong with being gay. And the guy in my avatar is not gay. He is married to a woman and has kids. I thought this was a sports forum and not a posters bashing other posters about their sexuality place.

We tried something similar at ExactBets and found the voting aspect never really functioned properly. People didn't vote nearly as much as they contributed plays, and the more popular posters always ended up leading the tally. In response, we implemented two concepts that worked marvelously.

1. "The Zone" - The Zone is sponsored by one poster, who puts up $25-$100 on a single bet, and selects a "betting lineup" of 4-6 posters to make plays after him. The Zone sponsor places the first bet, if it wins, then the original sum+winnings are wagered on any play that the next person in the lineup selects. If all the plays are winners, then the sponsor splits the total winnings with all the Zone participants. If someone loses, obviously there is no money left since each bet is a Martingale. These often last a full day or sometimes two days and is a very entertaining way to implement the "group 'capping" concept. Credit goes to one of my favorite posters, Teddy KGB, who came up with the idea out of nowhere only to see it become a huge success.

2. Forum account - EB got a sponsor book to match any funds that we contributed to a forum account, where the forum selects a group of seven handicappers to make plays with a fixed stake size for the entire forum. This one became its own sub-forum it generated so much traffic. Posters could PayPal in any multiple of $50 for "shares" in the account, which would be liquidated in exactly 90 days and profits/remaining bankroll would be distributed to the shareholders. Each handicapper in the group account made his plays publicly in a thread in the sub-forum, which obviously generated a lot of discussion. Since only straight bets were allowed, stake size was fixed, and the sportsbook doubled the bankroll, a profit was shown every time. I'd love to see something like this done here. It gives everybody daily action together to root in.

I'm sure these are just a couple of ways to get people handicapping together, but they were certainly the most memorable during my forum experiences.

There you go! Sounds like this will be fun! But please post the fuking play by 4PM! I willing to go with MonkeyF? My numbers point against it, but they are my numbers!

Some good ideas Scholar. I was thinking along the lines of something much simpler (as in, here is the play for today, now let's all bet it so we can be happy together).

But if anything like those get some interest, I'd be down for whatever.
