"Seductive internet," boy that's a mouthful. That's why I'm on the forums/in chat less these days too. I found I was becoming content in my isolation, rationalizing it through my friendships and interactions with people online. Or at least that's how I view it in hindsight; in reality meeting up with Matty Rain in 'Frisco was a watershed moment for me. I was most painfully confronted by just how far I'd allowed my social/conversational skills to erode by living in the boondocks for the past four years. I began to see my future through clearer eyes, and without significant change it was looking far too much like this guy:
So now I'm making a concerted effort to spend the "off-season" doing more than just hanging out in SBR chat (even though I miss those days tremendously still) and moving my irrigation system to the next locale in the forest. David and I have now taken four successive weekend trips to 'Frisco and have had a blast. I've taken him to concerts, horse racing, beer festivals and I'm trying to find a good play that might open his eyes to live theatre. I see now after 28 years on the planet just how much of life is repetitive and why older people attempt to live vicariously through the young. I guess I'm better off just rolling with that concept instead of kicking against the goads.
Congrats on your wedding, and I'm sure the honeymoon will be well worth the wait. I don't much like the heat, but Cozumel is one of the most picturesque tropical locations I've ever been to. Once you've gone snorkeling there, life above the water seems somewhere dull. That is, if you guys ever make it out of the hotel suite.
Yep, still living in Albion, tending the sacred herb. I said last year I'd have another business to jump into and be done with this "horticulture," but it looks like I still have one more year in me. You guys should come out here for harvest time this year, then you can crash here and make some spending money by trimming the product. Life is too short to be waiting years to travel, especially when you have a lonely friend out here with a spare bedroom.
Sorry I have to cut this short, there's just been a break in the rain so I'm going to go check my crab pots down in the harbor, hopefully I'll have enough to make my famous crab cakes for the Super Bowl. I hope you stick around so we can keep in touch more, you're just one of those people that's easy to get attached to.
