Only bring this subject up as I have been evaluating my play and trying to strip it down to the core. When I first started learning NL Hold 'em, I relied on the basic slanksy hold 'em group rankings:

Tier Hands
1 AA, AKs, KK, QQ, JJ
2 AK, AQs, AJs, KQs, TT
3 AQ, ATs, KJs, QJs, JTs, 99
4 AJ, KQ, KTs, QTs, J9s, T9s, 98s, 88
5 A9s...A2s, KJ, QJ, JT, Q9s, T8s, 97s, 87s, 77, 76s, 66
6 AT, KT, QT, J8s, 86s, 75s, 65s, 55, 54s
7 K9s...K2s, Q8s, J9, T9, T7s, 98, 64s, 53s, 44, 43s, 33, 22
8 A9, K9, Q9, J8, J7s, T8, 96s, 87, 85s, 76, 74s, 65, 54, 42s, 32s

Today, I stumbled upon this NL hold 'em starting hand matrix (link at end of post). Seems rather basic and could be useful as a reference. Obviously you can never re-create the actual hand because there are so many other factors involved, but having a good base can be helpful.

What do you think of this matrix?
Have any of you created your own matrix (on paper)?

Are you referring to tournament play? Things like this make your play entirely predictable and easy to get a read. This especially goes for cash games. However, in tournaments, you may find yourself only picking up blinds when you raise especially as you climb the ranks. Varying your play and adjusting to the table is a huge part of success in poker. Most of your opponents these days know how to play by the book.

Yes, mf I am talking about online tournament play. The majority of the time I play in $36 or $72 6 man sng or in mtt on Bodog. The play is very loose in these tournaments (this site as a whole is very loose) and I have had my success as a tight aggressive player. When I have tried getting too creative with my play I have been less successful. Cash games are a completely different animal which is why I have fared poorly by playing more "by the book."
