What's the logic behind the whole "you can only edit your post within 10 minutes of posting it" deal?

I know it's lame-o when people go back and remove posts after the fact, but I make little typos and shit all the time that I notice after the fact and go back and fix.

OCD Davey no likey.

I'm with VD. I don't like it.

I don't understand why we care if PapaGeorge fiddles with his posts. Idiots at other forums can add/remove info to their hearts' content. It is no skin off my nutsack.

What are we, the Special PapaGeorge Accountability Forum?

:mudcat:

I mean a perfect example is the LSU UNC game.

I was leaning towards the under. Say I'd taken the time to write up how the game was going to be under, how UNC had 6+ NFL-talent type guys on defense, etc.

Then the NCAA hits UNC with these suspensions, and 9 of the 11 starters on defense are out for the LSU game.

Now, I'm expecting LSU to put up a ton of points. I wouldn't go in and edit the whole writeup out, but I'd go in and in bold letters at the top make everyone aware that the writeup isn't really current/accurate anymore.

Sure, I could do that in another post, but if the pick garnered some discussion, there's a chance someone might not read the entire thread all the way down to the new post.

Bring back the button and everyone is accommodated. Guys who want to edit can edit. Guys who want to live on the edge don't have to use it.

Was that really the reason it was removed, for PapaGeorge? We changed everyone's rules for that dopey twat?

If anyone feels like answering seriously, I'm curious: what does that accomplish just in terms of PapaGeorge?

Second that. I vote to bring it back.
