So I just completed my first betting chase on the SF Giants and you all know how that ended. Took a pretty good chunk out of my roll but am still in good shape. Chases are not recommended to anybody for obvious reasons but I find myself in this predicament, do I continue to chase the Giants or do I cut my losses and take it as a tough learning experience? Any of you, in your amateur years make this mistake? What did you do?

You know the answer to your own question. Doesn't mean it will stop you. You are, after all, a gambler.

Let me know what you decide though so I know whether to root for you or not.

Oh, and I have a ton of chasing stories. Some work out and you're on top of the world. Many fail and you are miserable (er).

Chase. Not a word I like to hear. It generally means shifting the focus from learning how to find value in betting to hoping for magic hoodoo.

I don't know the exact nature of your chase so I can't say for sure if I did the same thing in younger years. I did some dumb things and I paid.

My suggestion is, as you say, cut your losses and take it as a tough learning experience. Then cut the word chase out of your gambling vocab.

One more thing I'll add is that bookies live....they fucking LIVE...for a chasing gambler. it gives them big thick hard ons.

Now, I'm going to bet heavy on SF tonight because we all know as soon as you lay off them, they will win 12-0

Even as I placed the bets the past two days, I was unsure of whether it was a sound bet. Looking at the pitching matchups I did not see a clear edge, yet I fell into that horrible mindset that "they can't lose tonight again." Now had it won, it would be a non-issue. But I see now how so many people get wiped out and the books continue to bank off of the reckless gambler. I would classify myself as a conservative amateur gambler that avoids unnecessary risks so I was definitely outside of my comfort zone. Shit, I feel like I'm at confessional. Bread take the Giants tonight and make up some of my losses.

Cut your losses and move on. Chase systems are lottery systems not handicapping.

I've been very fortunate in that I've never had the desire to employ a chase system.

Now, did I chase with some West Coast bases early in my betting years? Of course. I learned real quick what type of results to expect from that.
