I don't have much to contribute this week but I'll kick it off.

Get Him To The Greek - Man I dunno what to say about this. Not absolutely horrible. Not great. Some very bad moments but a few laughs. It is a prototypical 5 out of 10 movie for me. The only question is, do I shade on the thumbs up or down side of the 5. No, I can't see giving this movie an actual recommendation. 4.99 out of 10.

Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) - I love it as I love everything Wallace & Gromit. I only wish there was more of it. 7.5 out of 10.

Today's supplemental topic: Oliver Stone - artiste or hack?

I say hack.

.

I saw this yesterday an d I thought it was a little better than you did. It was a comedy but I don't think it was really supposed to be a laugh a minute type of movie. I really liked how they worked Russell Brand finding himself and learning about his past into this quirky story. I always enjoy watching him...and find him more interesting than the average comedian. Throwing up seemed to be the theme of the movie.....not really sure why. It isn't like throwing up is all that funny. I will say the scene with them all petting the wall...that almost had me in tears.

Oh and Oliver Stone....COMPLETE HACK

Visitor Q - Hilariously well done. About a failed sensationalist tv guy and his fuck up family(wife heroin, daughter hooker, son bullied, etc. etc) that gets a visit from Q. So many great scenes... when Q hits him on the head with a brick.. when his daughter complains that he cum too early and charge him more.. when the son is whipping his mother.. when he gets a microphone up his ass.. when Q is milking the wife's tits.. when he's raping his producer by the ditch.. when they get fireworks at dinner and starts shooting video.. when the wife is pissing in the kitchen and Q is sitting with an umbrella on floor.. when he's fucking the dead body and thinks he made a scientific discovery only to find out its just shit.. when he admits he gets a hard on watching his son get beat up.

Q solves everything in this feel good movie. 8.2 Matty Raines.

Okay, I have to see this. Getting it now.

Los Debutantes - Chilean film. Had been a few years since I saw it. Nothing extraordinary, but I like the subject and style. A guy moves to the city and starts working for a pimp, falls for a stripper, his brother does too, and she falls for both of them. But she's the pimp's gem. Trouble starts and the story plays out from their three different perspective. Very stylish, hits close.

Easy A - My brother-in-law took a job with AMC Theaters, and now we get unlimited free movies. As a result, we decided to see this movie that we've heard nothing about.

I loved it. A very loose take on The Scarlet Letter, Easy A (which is a pretty clever title, once you see the movie) pays homage to the 80s John Hughes movies, and I'd expect anyone who connects to those movies to thoroughly enjoy it. It doesn't exactly try to be a John Hughes movie, though, and it stands on it's own very well as a teen morality tale original enough to easily keep my interest throughout. Solid writing, witty but not overly snarky. My only complaint is Lisa Kudrow's role, but she tends to bug me in any role that isn't Phoebe Buffet. 7.5 out of 10 Jake Ryans. Highly recommended for innocuous fun.

Maybe I was too hard on Oliver Stone. He is not a hack. He has done some okay stuff. Just every once in awhile he comes up with these ridiculous self-indulgent projects.

He needs to stick to telling stories and not worry so much about doing tricks.
