There are still Russians who claim they won the 1972 Summit Series because they scored more total goals during their 4-3-1 defeat. Like these fabricated claims about Vancouver, it is too stupid to dignify with a response.

Is it that bad to just shake hands, say congratulations, and go about your business? I guess so for some people.

I would like to think that these claims get attention because they are so provocative and sensational but in reality represent the sentiments of a tiny segment of Russians.
 
And such was the hounding of the Russian athletes that there are rumours many refused to eat for fear their food would be laced with steroids.

you guys are laughable. Some Canadian is scouring Russian newspapers to find something to rouse the public.
Russian team played like shit. Primarily because it was made of shitbag North American players. Instead of being honored that many in the world have taken your great sport, and applauding their contributions you're content to take undeserving cheap shots.
So you won the gold on your home ice after finishing what 8th in Turino. After losing consecutive world championships, losing to the Americans in first round and tying Switzerland. (I know you have selected memory like your neighbors) The quality of play in the tournament was weak. It feels like after hearing all the hoopla, and how much this gold would mean to you, the other countries decided to just let you have it.
