I will be watching and cheering enthusiastically for Milos. I just hope it goes better - much better - than the only other Canadian to reach the final of a major (Eugenie Bouchard who got stomped into a thin runny mush by Petra Kvitova at Wimbledon a couple or 3 years back.)

That may well be the last time I watched any tennis.

Whatever - go Milos!!!

In terms of pecking order, I would put Mike Weir higher. I give an ongoing crap about the golf majors and frequently watch the conclusions of them.

Tennis, very little since the days of Borg and Mcenroe.

In terms of accomplishment though, I guess the tennis is bigger. It is much more possible to fluke into a golf major. If I were to go down the list of names to win them since I have paid attention, there are probably 20+ that no one knows who the fuck.

Tennis, you generally have to be one of the very best of your time.

Is my feeling.

I wonder how many times I actually let out a NOICE! after a Raonic shot. 3 times maybe? In the whole match? Something like that?

I don't even know how to analyze that. I guess you have to credit Murray for an unbreakable defense. Milos made his share of unforced errors but I didn't feel like he choked really. It was not reminiscent of Bouchard's trouncing a few years back (how long did her match last? 11 minutes?)

Murray was just solid as a rock.

On a side-note, it is certainly not my first exposure to the use of replay in tennis but it bears repeating: holy fuck, that's how you do it.

Baseball needs to start using pitch tracker for balls and strikes starting RIGHT NOW. If there are games in progress, do the switchover in mid-game.

This thing about romanticizing the human element is idiotic. Who are these umpires anyway? Who are those fucking guys?

Why anyone would want to do anything but minimize the influence of those ridiculous pantloads on the outcome of games is beyond me.

Use your fucking technology.

I agree on the technology. And it's not even as slow as they make it on the tennis broadcast. My wife went to the broadcast booth at the US Open and they run instant in/out analysis as the point is being played. The ball landing/zoom in graphic is just for TV. They could simply have an indicator light when a ball is out - stop play, next point. However the sports organizations are more interested in the fan experience both live and at home, i suppose understandably so.

Fans that care about the most accurate enforcement of the rules, and thus the purest form of the sport they love, are less than fans that want to enjoy the entire experience (e.g. more artificial emotional highs/lows, things for players and fans to complain/argue about, etc).
