Matchbook players = cagey SOB's

just watching the tb/BAL moneylines go off. About 10 minutes before gametime they had

tb -148 (~15K available)
BAL+147 (~8K available)



and it just sits. No one wants to give up the 1 point + comm. They just sit.

You see guys making new $300 offers on TB @ -147 on top of the 8K in offers already sitting there rather than grab the -148 they could have immediately.

A minute before gametime, you see guys just remove offers rather than take the side at a point worse.

Not saying I'm any different. I put in the first offer on tb-147 15 minutes before gametime. It was $700. It just sat there collecting offers on top of it until the last minute and I'm thinking, jesus christ I guess I'll have to take -148. Not one of these hard-ons is going to budge one cent.

But my offer finally did get taken up right at the end.

Yeah. Huge difference between getting your bet matched and gobbling the next best offer. But I hear ya, Matchbook has become a game of chicken.

Indeed the difference between Betfair and Matchbook in this respect is huge.
I don't think it is the commission structure, just the fact that the average American "recreational" bettor doesn't want to play at Matchbook.

Right, it is 0.7% commission on offers accepted on MLB moneylines.

So if I had to give in on my -147 and take the next best line it would have worked out to -149.7
