If the Rangers want to make it deep in the playoffs, or even make the playoffs, they will need help from Marian Gaborik. Only problem is, he took a small hit Sunday against the Flyers and left the game with a concussion.

He sat for most of the first period, but returned to play the final 29 seconds and did not return to the bench for the second period.

This is the second major injury for Gaborik this season. He missed 12 games between October and November due to a separated shoulder. And now will most likely miss some time with a concussion.

What is this guys deal? Always injured and he makes $7.5 million a year. Maybe the Minnesota Wild knew what they were doing when they let Gaborik go.

Last season Gaborik was a hot winger for all fantasy hockey teams and the New York Rangers, with 42 goals in 76 games. This season he has just 17 goals in 46 games.

While Gaborik has been cold all season and leaving the Rangers to struggle for wins, this is the icing on the cake for the Rangers season. The injury bug has been an issue all season long for the Rangers, so this should not be something new to them or Gaborik for that matter.

This only helps the New Jersey Devils chances on making the playoffs.

The need to take a look at the new equipment, it is a huge factor with all these concussion.

What is all that talk about anyways? Gaborik is a injury prone queen it is out of control. I like the guy as a player he is on my fantasy roster every season but this season he has sent me over the edge, I am done with this guy. I think I remember the hit he took and if that is what caused the concussion, this guy should not be in the NHL.

The size of the new pads, along with the fact they are making the pads with kevlar is a reason for all the head injuries.

Ahh thats what you meant.

It just amazes me on how these big all stars are suffering concussions. Look at guys like St. Louis, Tyler Myers, and Mat Zuccarello..they are never injured, and they are barely 5' 8"

Zuccarello is actually 5' 6"

Mike Richards is out with the flu. Is he a pussy too?

He played today against the Rangers, he only missed one game, and if you want to get into the convo. he actually appeared for the Brindamour ceremony Friday night on the ice with the team. Just did not play the game. But I am still leaning towards he was hung over, how does a guy get the FLU and play 2 days later? Or is he that strong of a player and not a "pussy" as you say ;)

What does this have to do with a player getting a concussion? I know your not trying to make it sound the same, just busting chops because I am a flyers fan....Blitty your a Red Wings fan correct?

Concussions are still a big mystery. You never know the complete severity of an injury, even from watching it in a replay. If it was a weird angle anything can happen upon impact at the speed these guys go at. I don't think it makes sense to say that a player isn't tough because they miss games from concussions or most injuries.

Gaborik is always injured. There is a time where you have to draw the line and add him to the not so tough list, right?

But I understand what your saying about the concussion mystery.
