I rarely ever do this but what the hell, what makes this a play for you?

Although both teams are trending OVER in their indivdual previous 10 games they tend to go UNDER when playing each other. The 2 pitchers combine for an average ERA of 2.04, granted Baltimore's Brian Matusz only has 5.2 innings on record so there is much unknown there.

Just curious what signals an OVER play here?

For the record I am not saying I am on the other side here in fact I have no dog in this hunt just curious how you see numbers differently.

God this is truly pathetic and shows just how desperately I am struggling with baseball.

Wally, you need a drink to mellow you out! Desparate times call for desparate measures!

Dafty, any recommendations for Wally on a bottle of wine that might put him to ease? Nothing too strong, don't want him to go full Wally!

Monkey, I don't see how I am not being calm. The simple truth is I ran the numbers on this game and I got a completely different opinion on it. I am obviously struggling with baseball and Daft here is doing well so perhaps there is something I am not looking at correctly. Numbers are numbers it's how we view those numbers that is the difference.

I'm not asking the guy for help, I never would, I am just trying to compare how we view things differently.

Now if he is flipping a coin (fucking awesome coin) or if these are someone else's plays (then well worth the price obviously) and I doubt either are the case then a discussion on perspective thread worthy.

Daft, as stated in my initial post,"I have no play on this game". However as with all games I still run the numbers and form an opinion and the numbers don't support your play. Doesn't mean you are wrong or anything like that, in fact the play itself has nothing to do with my question.

I am trying to see if there is something I am missing, looking at differently or simply don't get.

against the grain angle Wal
the recent trends are leading the sheep to the slaughter

Against the grain is the very thinking I have on the Minnesota/Cleveland game tonight. Minnesota has beaten Cleveland 7 straight including 2 this season. Minnesota is coming into this game off a 4 game sweep of the Royals where they out-scored them 26-6.

Cleveland on the other hand comes int this game off their first 4-game losing streak where they scored just 6 runs in 4 games including 2 shutouts.

All trends point to Minnesota but the line favors Cleveland.

Wally, since you kind of asked nicely....,

Combined ERA's are around 4 yet the total is 7.5

Seem suspicious to you? It is to me.

Also, you have to pay a premium to take the over (-115)

That's the tip and middle of the iceberg

With that said, I'm not sharp (my record this year is a small sample size) but I like to think I have more of a clue in MLB than the average recreational "handicapper"
