Generally if you die intestate (without a will) your assets will pass to your next of kin..parents/children first and then siblings. If you want someone else to have rights to something you do need to specify with a will.

The LIVING will is what really scares me the most. Say you end up in a vegetative state and you wish that the plug got pulled...if you don't specify your wishes...you may not have your wishes carried out.

Right.

Right now I have only an informal one but probably should do a "real" one soon. I know that amending them is costly, so do it right the first time...or maybe that was a trust...Q is right though..the living will is probably the most important for most of us.

Don't have a living will or will! MrsM said MrQ she really not interested talking bout death at this time of year! I told her we need to get one and that was her answer! I won't tell her but we should get a will done! Of course my son will get everything but without a will it becomes annoying doing the steps to get stuff I'm thinking!

Bout the living will, not necessary! I'm thinking MrsM and my son either will bump into each other in the hospital room ready to pull the plug or they will call odds and evens to see if gets to do it! I hope I die in my sleep or get killed instantly!

It is kinda tough for me because I just have one common law partner and no dependents..plus I am the youngest of 4 kids. It is likely I will be the last one standing, so I guess I will give everything to my nephew and nieces and my partner.. Still have some thinking to do on this subject.
