Simple Broccoli Rabe with Provolone Sandwich 10+++
Fry in big pot with olive oil and garlic and a little salt and pepper until tender. Very healthy and delicious! Don't know if I see provolone in this pic but it is a MUST! Too many stems in this pic too! Always pick a bunch with as many flowers (see below pics) in it as possible!
Delis always have it with bigger % of chicken or pork as filler but that is overkill IMO! Being expensive at supermarket it is probably cheaper to fill it with meat instead of the broccoli rabe?
No vegetable is dearer to Sicilians. Broccoli rabe is the most substantial of greenery: chewy, nourishing, and possessed of a slightly bitter flavor that melds nicely with oil and garlic.
