Florida vs Penn St
If you are thinking of betting the Outback Bowl between Florida and Penn St first you need to ask yourself why? If after asking yourself and you still are determined to go ahead and place good money on 2 bad teams then take a look at whose worse.
Both teams have had disappointing seasons. Florida picked by most to contend for another SEC title fell woefully short of that goal. Floridas offense struggled all season and not just from a performance standpoint but from a coaching standpoint as well. The defense was expected to be not on the same level as in years past due the number of underclassmen but they performed worse than imagined.
More than the performance of the players has been the lackluster coaching of Urban Meyers and his staff. The play calling has left more than a few Gators fans dazed and confused and allowed Floridas opponents to play more aggressively on defense. Florida never established a passing threat and the runs were more than just a little predictable. The play of the offensive line has been totally awful but that too appears to have been due to the lack of coaching.
Last year there were those that thought Cincinnati had a chance against Florida because Florida would be in a let down spot after losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship game. That thinking failed Bear backers largely due to the fact that the team leader Tim Tebow was capable of willing himself to perform even against the odds of poor game planning. Plus Florida was just superior in talent to Cincinnati.
This year for whatever reason there are those that assume Florida will once again show up and out perform another team in a bowl game simply because they are better. Well not so fast.
While Penn St may very well be a less than good team they will be in this game till the end and I even look for them to maybe even win the game outright. My reasoning for selecting Penn St is more to do with Florida then with Penn St themselves.
If Florida coaches were unwilling to make adjustments throughout the season what makes anyone think now that they are about to pack their bags they will do so now? Who on this current Gator team has the never surrender, never die attitude of a Tim Tebow? Even if Penn St isnt that great of a team what has Florida done all season to lead anyone to believe that they will want this more the Penn St?
Ill take the 7 points but I really look for Penn St to win this game outright.
Penn St +7
