Florida vs Penn St

If you are thinking of betting the Outback Bowl between Florida and Penn St first you need to ask yourself why? If after asking yourself and you still are determined to go ahead and place good money on 2 bad teams then take a look at whose worse.

Both teams have had disappointing seasons. Florida picked by most to contend for another SEC title fell woefully short of that goal. Floridas offense struggled all season and not just from a performance standpoint but from a coaching standpoint as well. The defense was expected to be not on the same level as in years past due the number of underclassmen but they performed worse than imagined.

More than the performance of the players has been the lackluster coaching of Urban Meyers and his staff. The play calling has left more than a few Gators fans dazed and confused and allowed Floridas opponents to play more aggressively on defense. Florida never established a passing threat and the runs were more than just a little predictable. The play of the offensive line has been totally awful but that too appears to have been due to the lack of coaching.

Last year there were those that thought Cincinnati had a chance against Florida because Florida would be in a let down spot after losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship game. That thinking failed Bear backers largely due to the fact that the team leader Tim Tebow was capable of willing himself to perform even against the odds of poor game planning. Plus Florida was just superior in talent to Cincinnati.

This year for whatever reason there are those that assume Florida will once again show up and out perform another team in a bowl game simply because they are better. Well not so fast.

While Penn St may very well be a less than good team they will be in this game till the end and I even look for them to maybe even win the game outright. My reasoning for selecting Penn St is more to do with Florida then with Penn St themselves.

If Florida coaches were unwilling to make adjustments throughout the season what makes anyone think now that they are about to pack their bags they will do so now? Who on this current Gator team has the never surrender, never die attitude of a Tim Tebow? Even if Penn St isnt that great of a team what has Florida done all season to lead anyone to believe that they will want this more the Penn St?

Ill take the 7 points but I really look for Penn St to win this game outright.

Penn St +7

I think I'm fading the Big Ten tomorrow

JoePa's staff always has PSU, ready for the bowl games. But I think the Florida kids will wanna win this last one for Meyer.

Florida has more speed, and should win the battles in the trenches

Urban and staff are coaching the game. Urban has been spending time with ESPN setting up his new job with them and the staff have either been searching for new jobs or worried if they will even still have a job. While certainly there have been practices you can't overlook the focus of the staff. Hell look at the lack of focus and or adjustment to schemes that were made during the season.

Florida's athletes as a whole are better than what Penn St has to offer, of that I can not argue.

Archie does bring up a good point about the players motivation being that of sending Meyers out with a win. While that is definitely a possibility I will take my chances.

There is also the fact that I am a Meyer hater and a disgruntled Gator fan.

Gator Bowl
Michigan vs Mississippi St

Nothing in life is a guarantee but I'll take my chances that this one is pretty close to as solid as it gets, UNDER 59.5. Looking for more scoring maybe but basically the same thing we saw in the Navy/Georgia Tech game with the clock running. Michigan has the potential for the big play but still will run the ball and leep the clock running. The Bulldogs will play aggressive physical defense and attempt to pound the ball right down Michigan's throat.

I lean to Mississippi St winning and covering the line but my play will be on the total.

Michigan/Mississippi St UNDER 59.5

If it goes the way you describe here it would make for a nice Vegas Dave's Philosophy Play.

As is always the case in Big 10 vs. SEC. I cannot take state college here, in spite of my distain for Meyer and crew....

I am with Archie on this one.

Last game for Lloyd Carr (Michigan beats Florida outright as a 10.5 point dog)
Last game for fat man from Maryland (Maryland crucifies East Carolina 51-20 as a 7 point fav)

Other plays I am looking at today are.................

Oklahoma to roll. Risky play with all the points and the Sooner's not always showing up in the bowl games. Also would probably be a better play to take the little guy here but IF Oklahoma gets to rolling this one could get ugly. It's a square play for sure but those sometimes win.

Another HUGE square play is Wisconsin I don't care. I like the Badger's and also like the UNDER here.
