Well, there are always two ways of looking at things! Celebrate it or not...things will remain as they are! BUT, bringing them out for all to see and inspire from, hopefully, is the aim (or should be!).

Life goes on at its own pace, its such events that act as reminders of what we have, or have yet to, achieve!

Waiting for a Day when equality will become Reality, in itself is an impossible dream! We just can't put on hold recognition/celebration of others' efforts, in such a hope. Life would be incredibly dull and grey...

From your tone, one gets the impression that men have it easy...a readymade 'position' which they are born to claim! I beg to differ, Anita! They too struggle. They too are 'hapless'. They too commit suicide if they fail to provide for their families...look at the figures of farmers-suicides last year!

Its good that you are championing the cause of women. I, on the other hand, feel that women have to 'come up' on their own steam, for a society to be Equal. They have to have a 'desire' to stand on their own feet. Then and only then will men be 'forced' to treat them with respect!

Bread, I am back in Toronto after completing a 6 week tour of Western Canada.

Bread, Canada is beautiful in so many ways pal. You have no idea.

Bread, if you ever get a passport and somehow manage to get into Western Canada I'd recommend Jasper, and Medicine Hat, Alberta as good places to visit. Also, Saskatoon and Yorkton Saskatchewan are also nice.

Bread, you should avoid Winnipeg, nothin much happening there pal.
