I have been looking through a lot of craigslist room/share rental postings lately, in a quest to find a new place to live. Whenever I am browsing a listing and I read "40 year old male with cat" or something similar to that, I skip to the next listing. It doesn't matter how good the place seems or how good the price is. I'm not exactly sure why. But I do know that I don't want to be that creeper who is desperate to get someone to rent out a room when I get older.

Unless your some millionaire bachelor for life, It's probably a good idea to try and get married sometime in your late thirties at the latest. I figure this concept is really obvious, but it became much more apparent to me while I was looking at the listings, and my initial reaction upon reading about who I could end up living with. Hopefully this doesn't offend any posters here. I'm pretty sure most of the older posters here are either in relationships or have kids in their own homes.

I don't find the post offensive exactly. I might object slightly that it has a preachy tone and suggests everyone fits in the same conventional box - which is not my experience. But whatever. If this is a new idea to you and it feels important then good.

I don't think I have ever posted anything preachy. Just stating my thought process. But I will admit that I was generalizing that most single older men with cats are creepy. You are the exception in my book muddy. Although you don't fit here because you're not single. I think patty and selma portray these characters accurately.
