I did a new song video

of the Irish folk classic, Black Velvet Band. I'm not sure how well suited it is to the tastes of the assembled gamelive hordes but what the hell, I figured I'd post it.

If nothing else, it seems an appropriate cautionary tale for the rowdies and reprobates around here. Take heed, take heed.

Actually take heed in two ways. (1) just generally be careful when you are out on the liquor, me lads, and (2) be careful when doing Youtube videos that you don't end up with a comical facial expression like I have right at the very first second of this.

Muddy, I am jealous of noone but fully admit I envy more than a few. Good question RJ. This is a song that has many versions going back over 150 years. And there are some big differences in the lyrics (as well as chord progressions). There is nothing definite about any of it.

The lyrics I am using are basically the ones The Irish Rovers use. My impression is that she is a prostitute who also dabbles in whatever seedy pursuits (like pick-pocketing) she needs to get by in a dirty old town.
