I pulled my bike out I haven't ridden in over a year and the chain is so rusted it won't move. I"ve sprayed it with WD40 and it's loosened up a bit but not enough to make it ridable I"m looking for suggestions on how to fix this problem. Muddy rides a bike I"m sure he's experienced this problem. I don't really want to go to a bike shop because guaranteed they charge me for a new chain.

HELP!!!!!!!!1
:muddy:

turn it upside down. keep turning the pedals while applying oil or WD40 while you keep turning the pedals and the chain WILL loosen up.

That sounds about right to me. I just did that to my bike last week as part of regular maintenance. The same principle should apply in this case.

I am surprised a bike would seize up so badly after just a year of non-use. Whatever, I would suggest just trying that procedure and don't scrimp on the loob.

LOL tried what Swarmy said and a few spots didn't move.... chain flipped off the tracks..... I re WD'd it and will see what happens by morning. BTW muddy it has spent winters outside for the last few years. Hopefully it will loosen up.

After days of drenching it with high strength lubricant I can actually pedal all the way around...... still not really flexible...... going to take it for a ride tonight. It might be a good time to take me in the death pool this could be interesting.
