I know what it is, am not opposed to eating buckwheat noodles, but it is not a regular part of my diet. Perhaps I shall investigate some buckwheat recipes when I get back from vacation. I just read that it is gluten free too.

From wiki:

Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) is a plant cultivated for its grain-like seeds, and also used as a cover crop. Despite the name, buckwheat is not related to wheat, as it is not a grass; instead, buckwheat is related to sorrel, knotweed, and rhubarb. The cultivation of buckwheat grain declined sharply in the 20th century with the adoption of nitrogen fertilizer that increased the productivity of other staples.

It looks like this. I just cooked some today. Used to dislike it as a kid, but now I think its kinda good.

It supposed to be very good for you. I'm surprised that in America with all the health food craze nobody mentions it :dunno: Its pretty common in Russia
