in real terms though......
not just betting and viewership

like undrafted free agents, vets that are released and in need of a paycheck, Plaxico Burress ect.

36 year olds without contracts ect.

gotta make $ somewhere

I think the top contracts were near 1 million dollars. and that is for washed up talent.

you don't think that there are NFL practice squad talents and 21 year olds out of college that don't crave a payday REAL BAD?

the UFL has already been "attracting" potential and former NFL players before this lockout.

think about the OP question, in light of new developments.

educate yourself about the UFL, UFL'S past, NFL'S future

answer intelligently.

I do agree that the NCAA will receive alot more attention this year

if there is no NFL in september, does anything happen to betting limits on NCAA at large offshore books? Vegas? Tsoprano?

That is completely incorrect. Base salary for starting players in the league is $35,000 with the option of a marginally higher salary for quarterbacks.

If you need proof:

so lets say the top amount is "only" 50k for good talent

do you think there are a few college players (after the best 200 get drafted) that graduated or came out for the draft and need some money?

what is Hasselback doing this fall?

I'd like to hear what players are "out there" so to speak. and might make the jump

I think James Farrior from the Stillers might be a candidate after he gets cut later this year. Maybe Hines Ward as well

The only way players go to the UFL is if they are desperate for money. Those salaries probably don't even pay the taxes for most NFL starting players' homes. The UFL also charges a transfer fee for players to join the NFL. It also poses the risk that a player receives a career-ending injury. It makes very little sense for someone with NFL talent. It's pretty much reserved for those who can't make it in the NFL.

How many guys that are coming out of "college" footballer players that is.... this year. are "desperate" for money? how many of them haven't ever seen 30k in their life?

Would you rather bag groceries for a year for $30k with very little chance of a career-threatening injury or play in the UFL with a very real chance? The probability isn't that high that the NFL lockout extends throughout the entire season anyway.

Cam Newton certainly doesn't need the $50k. What goes on with college boosters may surprise you. Many boosters help former players who aren't entering the NFL find employment after college. There are options other than playing football for a vast majority of them. Simply returning to school if they haven't finished their degree is also an option.
