Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins has banned gambling on team flights following a fight between two teammates over a debt from a card game.

The ban, which takes effect immediately, follows a confrontation between guards O.J. Mayo and Tony Allen during a team flight on Monday.

The team's first gambling-free excursion will begin on Friday, when the Grizzlies fly to Oklahoma City on a three-game road trip after hosting the Jazz in Memphis.

Last season, several NBA teams banned gambling on flights after a disagreement over a card game debt between then-Washington Wizards teammates Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton led to an incident in which both men brandished guns in the team's locker room.

Yahoo! Sports first reported that according to unidentified sources, Mayo owed Allen money following the game on Monday and became increasingly angry toward Allen when asked to settle the debt. Several players eventually had to separate the teammates.

Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace acknowledged the altercation in an e-mailed statement but provided no details about what caused the skirmish. He said: "The club considers the matter closed and will not comment further."

Allen had 19 points in the Grizzlies' 110-105 victory over Oklahoma City on Tuesday night. Mayo missed Tuesday's game with bronchitis.

Sharky, you used a commonly used term "they" which isolates and segregates a specific group or groups. The term "they" is often used by separatist in a cheap attempt to appear more respectable. Plommer used the term "niggas" but not in the widely accepted street lingo manner of, we are all niggas. He used it specifically directed at a particular race/group of people which made it racist.

GameLive is supposed to be a "rainbow sanctuary" and this kind of activity has to be stomped out.

I have, I used to spend my summers in high school working and living in Bridgeport, CT. Installing kitchen cabinets in housing projects. I saw some scary shit, we had to payoff these hoodrats or they would steal the cabinets, that the government was paying us to install. Fuck em, they got no respect.

Wal, there is a difference between a nigger and black person. I got no problem with blacks, but I got issues with niggers, and the NBA is filled with niggers.
 
I live by a different standard Tully. The world I grew up in the word nigger was used to describe a black person. In the world I choose to live in the term nigger refers to a lying, cheating stealing piece of trash for a human being and those types are white, black, yellow or brown.

I was half joking with my original post but I really do consider a true nigger to be of any color but the same character or lack of.

Yes, your right, I used the term "they" as in basketball players which is isolating and segregating a group of athletes, nothing else, if you felt it was color oriented then you know nothing about me.
