I lost my big bet on Sunday with Jankovic and the WTA has really been my down fall this tourney. I hear alot of people curse the wta for being flighty , and this tournament certainly has been especially with all the upsets, but I just think its people like me who wager on it constantly that are flighty, as my pick for today will demonstrate.
I just had a write up saying how I thought Schiavone did not deserve her ranking but I DVR'd the Schiavone/ Jankovic match and watched it this afternoon. What a performance by Schiavone, this was not one of Jankovic usual meltdowns as much as it was Schiavone coming at her with that vicious backhand and a ton of fight .
She was even fun to watch, some fan said something to her when she was serving and she held up the ball to him and said “Do you want to play?” I loved her fight in this match, I just have not seen her play this much this year, except in her last two losses on clay in Madrid and Rome.
I was going on her stats this year and the toughness of her previous schedule when I went against her with Jankovic but she looked like one of the top 5 players in the world on Sunday and a defending champion, really a great display.
Pavlyuchenko is so young and if this does go to three sets , Schiavone is one of the fittest female players on the tour. She has a huge advantage in that department and in experience on this surface
I am a great fade in wta right now, I had a huge futures on Woz to win it all and she is probably out shopping in the Marais distict for handbags right now, doing better in atp but I did just lose a a big wager on Stakhovsky. He is probably out looking for ladies of the night in the Pigalle district.
