When my Mom was sick we used a best doctors type service and found out about specialists around the country. We had her at Duke which is hard to beat and John Hopkins was right near us but they had places like The Mayo clinic in Minnesota that were amazing as well. I found this site for canada, http://www.bestdoctorscanada.com/Services/Overview.aspx, we definitely did alot of research and found out what is out there. So many locals are just quacks.
