Fact: "Facts of Life" star Geri Jewell is gay
Geri Jewell, who played the role of Blair's cousin, Geri Warner, on the hit '80s show, comes out in her upcoming memoir, Us Weekly reported.
Jewell, who has cerebral palsy, made headlines as the first person with a disability to appear regularly on a prime time show.
Besides revealing that shes a lesbian in "I'm Walking as Straight as I Can: Transcending Disability in Hollywood and Beyond," the 54-year-old also discusses the discrimination she faced trying to make it in Hollywood with the neurological disorder.
The book also goes into her financial and marital woes, two-timing agents, substance abuse and her eventual recovery.
"To get film roles while being disabled is definitely a challenge," the actress, who recently appeared on "Deadwood," told the magazine. "I'm proud of being a role model."
