I had something happen yesterday and while it was an isolated event similar things are becoming a common occurrence.
Yesterday was Focus On Change, its a training session for water and wastewater operators to inform us on new changes or potential changes in certain EPA and DEP guidelines. The morning session is for both fields and then in the afternoon there are breakout sessions for specific licenses.
Its renewal time for both of my licenses and I have enough CEUs for water but I still need a credit hour (8-hour class) for wastewater. That was what the class yesterday would accomplish.
As I am there in the morning doing my capping via the phone while all the boring presenters were going over all the new information I did perk up when something in one of the afternoon classes was of great interest to me. Unfortunately it was in a different class than I was signed up for.
After lunch I head to class and it is more of the same boring yada yada stuff and I am killing time between napping and playing video games on the phone and checking in to see what was up with GameLive. At 3:00 break I see that they have turned in the registration sheet that I somehow missed so I go over to sign it. My name wasnt listed.
I speak to one of the presenters and he says its no big deal, they sometimes miss one but I can simply sign anyways but am I sure I am in the right class? I tell him of course and that I have my class registration form over at my seat. No problem he will fix it.
At the end of the day they hand out CEU forms that have to be turned into the state so we receive our credit. I start filling mine out and I pull out my registration form and, FUCK ME, I spent the entire day in the wrong class.
I dont know what the early signs of dementia are but I think this and other things that have happened lately would qualify. Ive never been a genius but I have been sharper than this.
Now I have to find another training course before my license expires in April and because it was such a lame screw up I have to pay for the next class.
