Deposting checks...

Has anyone ever deposited a check that was not in their name but signed over to you, by the he guy with his name on the check?

Does the amount of the check play any factor?

nope. im sure the amount would factor in though. might have to have the dude be with you at the bank or something if its a significant amount.

My buddy just got an inheritance check for $16,000, he tried to cash it at the bank it was drawn on but they wont cash a check for more than $3,000 for a non customer. He tried to open an account but cant do to past bank issues. SO I was thinking I could deposit the check and when it clears give him cash.
