I usually watch the tournament - it's shown on the main sports channels here. So yeah, Canadians typically care. Probably a bit less this year after winning Olympic gold.

The NHL playoffs are going on. Generally speaking the very best players don't participate in the World Championships. This is a tournament to decide best leftovers.

I'm honestly not sure what the point is any year. I guess it generates a few dollars but I doubt even IIHF President Rene Fasel would try to claim with a straight face that this tournament has any significance.

Holy fuck!!! The Russians (my favourite players next to Canadians) are the biggest chokers of all time. This proves once and for all that Ovechkin is not a big game player. I'm honestly baffled that they lost to the Czechs.
