After trading Roy Oswalt to the Phillies and picking up the majority of the money owed until the end of 2011, it now seems that Lance Berkman is heading to the Yankees and Houston are paying a big proportion of the money owed to him.

When you are picking up big portions of contracts for players you traded to the Yankees, you are seriously inept at management.

I don't see the mentality of the Yankees doing this deal either. The DH spot in the line-up was often used to give their aging players a day off so having Berkman as a full time DH may come back to bite them.

Carlos Lee is statistically the worst performer in baseball for qualified players and is sporting the lowest power numbers in his career; Ortiz isn't so far behind Vlad in terms of full time DH production.

I know his numbers are bad in all areas, I just think if Lee was a full time DH he could be productive. He really has fallen fast, maybe he just stopped taking roids, but I think he could be productive in the AL

Ortiz is having a good year, but he isn;t coming back to Boston next year, unless he takes a big pay cut and plays for around $5 million. His contract negotiations could get ugly with his contract talks, Ortiz may be the most memorable Red Sox after Ted Williams, but he isn't the same player he was in the Fall of 2004 or his monster season in 2006.

I think the negotiations will be over real quick and it will be a take it or leave it kind of deal. He isn't worth next years $12.5 club option, probably $8-9 million maximum - maybe the Red Sox will pick it up for old times sake but there is no way he is going to get the multi-year deal he seems to be wanting.

They both are - I was meaning that Ortiz (and Vlad) is (are) having a pretty decent season compared to Carlos Lee.

Gotcha. Agreed on that.

I actually think Lee hit a HR a week ago or so to give me a nice win. Other than that, basura.

Unreal how Vladdy just keeps going and going. Nice bounce back after a year or two down.
