No. There is some overlap between hipsters and granolas, and some doulas are certainly hipsters, but granolas pre-date hipsters by a wide margin.

They're just modern-day hippies. They hang out with MrX a lot.

Just for the record, and I know you, Machu, likely don't give a fak, but anyone who opts to have their child born at home, with or without a doula, is nuts. I really don't get why people (mostly chicks I bet) would like to have their child born outside a hospital.

My previous neighbours had been planning to have their first child at home. The woman changed her mind as soon as labour started.

I think it's the most ridiculous thing to do. And harmful for both mother and child. I really don't get it.

The claim is that it's less stressful for the mother because she is in a familiar environment. And the woman's body is naturally programmed to pop out babies, so there's no need for drugs or all that medical supervision.

Like I said, hippies.

I'm all for better living through advanced chemistry.
