Big series starts tonight to see who will win the NL East and possibly enter the playoffs with the best record. Of course you all know who I like! Hamels looks like the pitcher from the playoffs a few years ago but a notch better?

Phillies bats have been hot of late. SLG % over .500 and OBP over .400 last 13 games. Braves haven't been slouches but not nearly as good. History shows Hamels though hasn't fared as well against the Brave's hitters as Jurrjens has against the Phillies.

Point I bring up to many people about the Phils is when they are patient at the plate, very difficult to hold down their bats. Key number IMO to look at, last 7 games have more BBs than KKs. Rarely see a team with that ratio!

Last 10 games Phils 9-1 and Braves 6-4. Philly hitting .315 against righties and Atlanta .259 against lefties during that time. Bullpen advantage goes to Atlanta from the numbers.

Value wise I guess Braves +145 is better than Phils -165 ML in a game that more or less could go either way? Hamels has been the better pitcher of late in this matchup. Wind slightly blowing in which helps Hamels (HR prone) but ball was carrying well Sunday.

Let's get some talk today about what posters think about this and the next 2 games? Also, if someone wants to start a Yankee-Rays thread, please do so. Will without question be rooting for the Rays.

I'm taking the Braves. No good reason for taking them but I am. Not a Philosophy Pick, not Rubberband Play just good old fashion what the hell.

Kinda my same reason why I'm playing the Phils!

I'm on the Phillies -160.

MF, just got home and saw Beachy now SP for Atlanta and now -200 Phils. Never had this happen to me so they will cancel my Phils bet.

Never played a -200 fav, but probably will tonight. What are you doing? Lost last couple with RL plays at more than -200 that both won by 1 run. No more RL for the sucker I am.

Thanks. Please let me know. Beachy has to be a hard thrower by his minor league strikeout numbers with very good control. Phils have a history of cold hitting against never seen before pitchers by not being patient.

Victorino, Palanco, Utley, Howard, Werth, Ubanez, Ruiz, Valdez has to the lineup.

Still 8 Total too.
