Big series starts tonight to see who will win the NL East and possibly enter the playoffs with the best record. Of course you all know who I like! Hamels looks like the pitcher from the playoffs a few years ago but a notch better?
Phillies bats have been hot of late. SLG % over .500 and OBP over .400 last 13 games. Braves haven't been slouches but not nearly as good. History shows Hamels though hasn't fared as well against the Brave's hitters as Jurrjens has against the Phillies.
Point I bring up to many people about the Phils is when they are patient at the plate, very difficult to hold down their bats. Key number IMO to look at, last 7 games have more BBs than KKs. Rarely see a team with that ratio!
Last 10 games Phils 9-1 and Braves 6-4. Philly hitting .315 against righties and Atlanta .259 against lefties during that time. Bullpen advantage goes to Atlanta from the numbers.
Value wise I guess Braves +145 is better than Phils -165 ML in a game that more or less could go either way? Hamels has been the better pitcher of late in this matchup. Wind slightly blowing in which helps Hamels (HR prone) but ball was carrying well Sunday.
Let's get some talk today about what posters think about this and the next 2 games? Also, if someone wants to start a Yankee-Rays thread, please do so. Will without question be rooting for the Rays.
