Very few singers are able to sing in tune live. Even fokken Simon & Garfunkel are using Autotune during live performances these days.

Axl Rose is a horrible musician. Slash deserved a better career.
 
I doubt you can find many "great" performances from the 80's or 90's on youtube... even after hair and metal dwindled in the late 90's and early 00's.

its the nature of the beast, you don't tour as a band like that and not just barely make it up on stage, due to fucking, drinking, drugging, fucking, throwing tv's out windows ect.

they weren't there at a city and venue to perform at top notch, they were there to draw a huge fan base, that was too fuked up to care HOW they performed. They just wanted to be able to party,

drug it up, fuk, drink, and say they've seen the band on their t-shirt LIVE.

the concert "experience" is a living and active thing, that never dies in your brain. its not about notes, pitch, or whatever. it just IS.

Did Fergie sing that song better than Axl live? for sure.

did anyone pay to hear her sing it last night? NO. Did anyone come away moved? not in person or live from what i've seen and read.

singers and singers..... and performers are performers. Performers make a lot more money

To each his own but not my kind of music the Peas! Didn't like Fergie's version either but listening to Rose's pathetic voice I can understand why GNR cancelled so many tours dates the day of shows.

I'm stuck in the Ice Age of music I guess, not into the contemporary stuff.
 
How did Axl whistle when he was Live?

whistling is tough.

I bet Mudcat Whistles at least 30 minutes a day.

I Picture Muddy, whistling while riding his bike to the supermarket for a loaf of bread and eggs. I bet he can whistle real loud
