Looks like there will be two very compelling matchups tonight in the Maui Invitational. If you happened to catch any of the games last night there were two very exciting games as UConn upset Michigan St and Kentucky battled a very big Washington team.
I have to admit that I was more than just a little impressed with how Kentucky managed to stay composed even with what appeared to be a size disadvantage inside with Washington. This Washington team has the talent and size to be a force in the PAC 10 from what was seen and if there were any doubts (primarily my own) about this Kentucky team they were put to rest as it looks yet again as the Wildcats are seriously strong.
In the other game a relentless UConn team beat the #2 ranked Michigan St Spartans. While there should never be a lot of stock put in early season rankings this is a good Michigan St team and UConn appears to be severely overlooked by many of the experts.
Naturally in an early season tournament you can never truly get a real feel of where these kids heads are at but from the games played last night it does look like all 4 of these teams will be around at the end of the season in the Big Dance.
As for tonight it looks like we get another two great matchups as Michigan St will be playing Washington and Kentucky takes on UConn. I will be rooting against Kentucky enough when the SEC starts so tonight I will be rooting for them to represent. I have no money in play with either of these games but if you truly like very good basketball I dont think you will want to miss either game.
