Cant find the thread (okay, i didnt look) where we were discussing phone issues... Didnt you say you got the Sam s5? i think i remember you got one and rooted it (no homo) .. if thats correct, what have you done with it since the root and would you suggest it? (i just got 2 new sam s5's )

i rooted my evos and didnt really do much besides use the Tether feature...im wondering if its even worth it...i feel like missed some crucial updates over the years with the evos

Easily the most useful aspect of rooting my Sprint phones has been the ability to force them onto Verizon towers when/where my Sprint signal sucks, which is often.

Second best part is free wifi tethering.

im on sprint, but have pretty solid coverage most everywhere i am... i do use the tether from time to time and its enough to make me root at least one of them... was just curious as to some other things that were useful... im an idiot with these things and never even attempted to install new roms or anything

No Ray, I don't have the S5.

I rooted my old Samsung Galaxy Ace and then had to restore it to factory fresh after having problems.

I searched a forum for direction with the process.

PS: I wouldn't recommend rooting a phone. The potential for big problems outweighs the benefits IMO (Wally).

The only reason I tried was to move files from internal memory to the 16GB micrSD card.
I got alot of "memory full" errors even though there is plenty of space on the microSD card.

Sprint has changed their policy on rooting, making it easier. It still voids your phone warranty.

Meh, sounds like a close call if you just want it for wifi tether occasionally.

X are you saying you need to root your phone in order to tether it?

My phone can tether natively.

when i first did the lte evos, i was under the assumption that i could dl a bunch of Paid games for free, like jailbreaking an Iphone allows... i just never really came across anything that was free, unless i just didnt know what the fuck i needed to do

Nope, rooting doesn't get you free apps.

you can get rid of the phone company skin and go with default android
