Anybody Here Have to Tap the IRA Early???

I had to today, just made me sick. It is a very slow time in my profession, and this was to make the next few months bills meet while I wait on some dead-beat receivables to cash. I cannot hate to say how much this irritated me to do.

no IRA for me or any retirement thus far
basically lived off saving last yr
thankfully so far this yr work has picked up and been putting some back in the nest egg for the next drought...

which at the moment I dont have anything but a couple small jobs to do.
had a record month in July though

trim carpentry is what I specialize in but will do anything involving wood short of framing houses since I dont have a crew big enough...
and cant find any good help that will show up everyday

Funny you say that. I just found my 401k from a job I had in college. Well, actually my brother did. It always crossed my mind from time to time, but I never knew how to recover it. Somehow, when I moved to Chicago, my address with them got lost in the mix and the company I worked for dissolved. I just filled out the claim today. I have absolutely no idea how much is in it. I think I had $2k or so in there at the time. This was 12 years ago. Who knows how much is in there now. I haven't tracked the mutual funds at all. I'm not even certain exactly what funds I had invested in. It will be interesting to find out.
