So I am watching this film last night and would like to focus on the talent show that the Brady Bunch win in order to save their beloved home, which is symbolism for saving what is good and noble in the world. Many would argue that the neighbor kid's band was the true victor of the contest. However, not only did this young man appear to be a little old for the youth talent search, which awarded a cash prize, but we did not get to see their entire song. We only say the end chorus that said WE ARE PHLEGM, WE ARE PHLEGM!!! As an audience it was difficult to make a decision solely on that portion of the song, though I am sure the rest of it had more substance. Now, the Brady kids displayed a masterful performance of art within sound, awarding them the top prize which was cash that allowed them to break free of adversity and remain a loving family with incestuous thoughts and potential bondage among parents, children, commonfolk (the butcher) and servants (Alice).
Any film buffs interpret this film different? Was the director trying to say that the band who sang about Phlegm was anti-semitic? Did they abuse, rape, and torture colored people and that was the reason they did not win the contest with their Phlegm song?
I asked on IMDB but they called me a faggot so I am looking for someone who really knows what they are talking about when it comes to these "Art House" dramas. Personally, I sometimes struggle to decipher hidden messages.
