The Adriatic League, more commonly referred to as the NLB League, is an East European regional basketball league consisting of teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. Although it's certainly no NBA, in fact no players have made the transition to there from the NLB, it's a competitive league and a number of Adriatic League teams take part in the more famous Euroleague which features 30 of the top European basketball teams.
This years NLB Championship game featured KK Cibona of Croatia against KK Partizan of Serbia in what was a repeat of the lopsided 2009 Final where Partizan ended up 63-49 winners. In the 2009/10 season, however, the teams couldn't be separated in the regular season as both Cibona and Partizan had a 20-6 record with Cibona only winning the league standings on point difference.
And in this week's final, it was just as hard to separate the two teams and it seemed that Croatias Cibona would come out winners and avenge last season's loss as Bojan Bogdanovic made a late 3-pointer to put them ahead 74-72 to the joy of their home fans. With a two point lead and 0.6 seconds on the clock Cibona's fans, coaches and fans invaded the court to celebrate the win. Because when you're two points up with 0.6 seconds left, there is no chance you can lose, right?
