@CASPERWAIT$, you’re very angry that Kendrick Lamar did the halftime show and in your opinion, it was terrible.

I think it was terrible as well.

I’m telling you that MANY people were VERY happy that KL performed and they were VERY happy about the way it turned out. The NFL machine (which is a multi billion dollar business) thought it was the right move to have KL do the halftime show. It’s possible that the NFL machine knows something that you and I don’t know.

I think we are done here, pal. I have nothing else to add or reiterate.

:handshake:
Judging by a very unofficial study on my Twitter - most every lib loved it only because the other side hated it.

I’m aware that Jay Z chooses the halftime artists (only because my son who loved the halftime show told me.

Ok in review….you like KL. You just hated the halftime show itself.

I’ve actually purchased a KL song on iTunes (“How Much A Dolla Cost”) like 10 years ango and I hated the halftime show as well.

I guess the only thing we disagree on is…..I think the NFL was marketing their brand to 13-29 year olds and you don’t agree?

:dunno:
if the NFL was marketing to a demographic, that would be the one they would go after.

I’m saying they don’t need to on Super Bowl Sunday.

I also think that KL would be a poor choice to reach a large portion of that demographic.

When the Weekend performed 3 years ago, that was bland as well. Not nearly as polarizing.

Caucasians still make up the majority of footfall watching population.

KL’s music is not nearly crossover enough IMO

Jay-Z makes that call.

It is funny that a rock band can't play HT because it's not inclusive, but we need subtitles to get the backstory on these acts now.

I didn't watch it (pay attention anyhow), bar was somewhat busy at that time.

Okay so let’s look at the last 20 Super Bowl halftime performances.

Literally 10 have been white acts. 10 have been black acts.

The last 6 have been black acts.

Of those 20, 3 would be deemed iconic universally.

Prince
Beyoncé
Dr. Dre Hip Hop Collaboration

What do they have in common? All African American performances that crossed over to white people pop music.

KL’s music is the opposite of that. Add his divisive stance on politics and you’re setting yourself up to losing viewers not gaining them.

That said, the NFL knows they won’t lose anyone.

They don’t give a fuck at the end of the day.

They placate Jay-Z for monetary reasons. His involvement runs deeper money wise.

maybe the message is more important than the inclusion of all
So let’s weigh the importance of the message he was trying to convey versus the divisiveness it would gestate.

Nothing he rapped about had a realistic solution to the problems he alluded to.

His purpose wasn’t to convey a message.

His rap was self serving for attention.

maybe self serving for the group(s) he represents

why is there divisiveness? do you think we have done a good job with the minority communities?

a lot of people think we were heading in the right direction.

a lot of people hate old white men.
