yeah I've seen a few videos on these minis, there's another brand that makes good ones Minisforum, I don't video game or anything like that so they are perfect for me, my next pc will be one of them, just put it in the backpack and have desktop anywhere I go
Thanks for the reply Rouge, at least now I feel a bit less irrelevant.

So I bought this mini pc from amazon

beelink minipc

It was easy to setup and performance seemed good BUT as soon as I connected a usb thumb drive or usb hard drive it slowed to a fucking crawl. I couldn't tolerate the slowness so I returned it and bought a refurbished 8th gen Dell that I'm much happier with. Dell is my 2nd fave PC after ASUS but ASUS are never this cheap.

silicon power 8gb ram

For $19 CAD I added another 8GB RAM

dell optiplex 7060
No more dual boot, I have a main Windows11 PC (Dell) and a mini lenovo with 8GB RAM second PC and Arch Linux with LXQT

So much of the data on my usb ssd got corrupted and I had to locate all my stuff spread out over multiple locations.

We're back

Roughly $250 CAD for the Dell, I got it for $227 plus tax, not the current $257. Basically the price of two steaks.

Also, I am migrating away from Google, in the slow process of moving everything to PROTON(mail/drive/vpn) etc.

No more google for plommer, only when necessary ie on android, but I've disabled most of the google stuff on my phone.

Brave browser is ok on PC but I haven't seen anything better on a phone, Brave browser is a must for android.

Picked up a refurbished ipad today. Bit of a learning curve for a windows/linux/pc/android guy but gotta say im quite impressed by the thing. Very intuitive compared to android. Navigating around the settings is a work in progress.
