there are two codecs smartphones use when recording video, avc/h264 and hevc/h265

h264 is the older standard and open source so it's free for any company to use, all browsers bundle this codec, this is the original .mp4

h265 is newer but proprietary, if any company wants to use it they have to pay royalty fees, smartphone manufactures pay this fee, h265 compresses video better and uses around 30% less storage for the same video as h264 would

when you play a video on a browser (or app) that doesn't have the h265 codec the browser just shows a blank filler instead of the video file, when I "fix" the video I just convert it to h264 making it playable for all, since about a year ago chrome and safari started bundling h265 on the desktop but only depending if it has one of the newer cpus on your computer for hardware decoding, so now you see this problem a lot less, we firefox users and older computer/phone users still won't see your video, it's a problem that affect some messenger apps also when sending videos to another chat user whose device doesn't have the h265 codec, that's why in my camera app I just set videos to record to h264 so when I share my dick videos with all the milfs nobody has any problem
